What you can do to be happier right now

On my blog, I post daily about my adventures in happiness and good habits. In this newsletter, I highlight some of the best material from the previous month.

Feel free to skip this long personal update: I've been traveling a lot to do events around Better Than Before. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to do it, and I really enjoy it -- but boy, it's nice to be home. I'm a real creature of habit (see Better Than Before) and a real homebody (see Happier at Home), so a long stretch at home has been great.

My sister Elizabeth and I are having so much fun with our podcast, Happier with Gretchen Rubin. We hit a big milestone this month: 2 million downloads! After just five months. Thanks, listeners! And thank to iTunes, which listed Happier with Gretchen Rubin in its round-up of top podcasts for its "10 Years of Podcasts" celebration. For newbies like us, that's a huge honor.

Intrigued? On the podcast, we talk about cutting edge science, the wisdom of the ages, the lessons from pop culture--and our own stories and experiences--about how to be happier and have better habits. We're sisters, so we don't let each other get away with much. For you fans of "Car Talk," to our delight, someone called us the "Click and Clack of happiness."

Not sure how to subscribe? It's easy--really! Instructions here.
Special thanks to people who take the time to subscribe, rate, and review. That really helps a new podcast like ours. (Hint, hint.)

Another milestone: more than 200,000 people have taken the "Four Tendencies" quiz. Want to find out if you're an Upholder, Questioner, Obliger, or Rebel? Take it here. I continue to be fascinated by the Four Tendencies. For instance, now I'm doing a lot of research on Thomas Merton (Rebel).

It was great to see
Better Than Before included in the Washingon Post's list of "A summer reading list that will help you professionally.
