Ernst: 'Good conversation' with 'Donald'

Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst said on Monday that she had a "good conversation" with Donald Trump, promising that she would continue to share her thoughts with him. "Iowans are frustrated by the current direction of our country," the freshman Republican senator said in a statement. "We simply cannot afford to continue these failed policies under Hillary Clinton."

Top Dem says Islamic State's 'global presence' growing

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., the top Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said Sunday that the reach of the radical Islamic State terror group is growing even as it loses ground in the number of areas it controls in the Middle East. "It is losing territory but at the same time it is expanding its global presence," Schiff said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

McCain: Obama Mideast policies 'almost criminal'

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., warned on Monday that the administration's approach in Afghanistan threatens to destabilize the region, with the latter calling President Obama's policies "almost criminal." Policies imposed by the administration last year prevented U.S. forces from engaging Taliban fighters except under limited circumstances, including self-defense, though the guidelines have been drawn back amid the terrorist group's resurgence. "The rules of engagement were so restrictive that it gave an advantage to the Taliban and other terrorist groups," McCain told reporters in Kabul.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is calling for the U.S. to improve its relationship with his country. Speaking in a Fourth of July message to Americans, Putin said the countries have a history of working together to solve "the most difficult international problems to the benefit of both our nations and all humankind," and should look more to that model going forward.

'Occupy the DNC' booking up campgrounds around Philly

Thousands of people who voted for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic presidential primary are expected to fill campgrounds around the party's July convention for a movement to "Occupy the DNC." "We are getting phone calls constantly," said Cheryl Robinson, who owns a stake in 200 short-term campsites at a Four Seasons in Pilesgrove, N.J. "A lot of times they don't want to let us know that they're Bernie supporters," she told the Associated Press.

A recent Gallup poll said that only 52 percent of U.S. residents are "extremely proud" to be Americans, a sharp drop from just a decade ago. Why do you think people feel this way?

Confidante: Hillary 'loves talking over drinks'

Confidante: Hillary 'loves talking over drinks'

Hillary Clinton "really" loves to talk over drinks, according to a longtime confidante. Negotiating "over adult beverages" would be a feature of what the New York Times portrays as a Clinton presidential style that would resemble that of Ronald Reagan or Lyndon Johnson, both legendary schmoozers.

Poll: Only 29 percent of non-college whites like Hillary

A new poll has revealed a secret weapon for Hillary Rodham Clinton to win the White House - Vice President Joe Biden. The latest YouGov.com surveys find that Clinton is already doing well among black and Hispanics, but whites, especially those who haven't attended college, have a highly unfavorable opinion of the former secretary of State.

Hewitt: What we know about Hillary's server

The FBI interviewed former secretary of State Hillary Clinton for many hours on Saturday morning. What's going on here? It's hard to say for sure, but reporters who don't know the laws involved are being led around by the nose by her spin doctors.

Libertarian candidate says Clinton's email actions weren't criminal

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson said he does not think Hillary Clinton is in legal jeopardy with the investigation into her use of a private email server while she was secretary of State. "I don't think there's been criminal intent on Hillary Clinton's part, so I don't see an indictment," the former New Mexico governor told CNN on Sunday morning.
