Does Your Family Have a Winter Weather Plan?

Is your family prepared for severe winter storms and extreme cold? All kinds of emergency scenarios can happen during a storm. Do your kids know what to do if they are stranded at home with the power out and you can't make it home? Does your car have a cold weather kit with supplies for you and your kids if you get stranded on the road in bad weather?

Discuss these types of emergency scenarios with your family and have a plan in place so everyone knows how to stay safe. This video shows the kinds of things to have in an emergency kit and what to do should severe weather cause an extended power outage or a family member to be stranded on the road.

Find out more tips on what to do before, during, and after a storm on FEMA's winter weather page.
