Good evening. Here's the start of tonight's briefing. Go to the full briefing. 
1. Trade ministers for the U.S. and 11 other Pacific Rim nations, after a decade of negotiations, agreed on the world's largest regional trade pact. The Trans-Pacific Partnership, which would be a legacy achievement for President Obama if it survives Congress, would phase out many tariffs and offer a counter to China's economic power.
2. The Coast Guard said a container ship missing since Thursday had sunk as Hurricane Joaquin tore through the Bahamas. Almost all of the 33 people aboard were Americans. "We are still looking for survivors or any signs of life or any signs of that vessel," a Coast Guard captain said.
