Good evening. Here's the start of tonight's briefing. Go to the full briefing. 
1. The judge who jailed a Kentucky county clerk in a dispute over gay marriage freed her, saying he was satisfied that Kim Davis's office was "fulfilling its obligation to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples." Two Republican presidential candidates joined the celebration, but Mike Huckabee got the spotlight, while Ted Cruz was off to the side (and out of this picture).
2. Hillary Rodham Clinton abruptly shifted her tone on her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, making a direct apology that her allies hope will end the controversy over the issue. "That was a mistake," she said. "I'm sorry about that. I take responsibility."
3. Germany and Sweden urged other European countries to accept their fair share of the droves of migrants streaming in from Syria and elsewhere, and the White House said it was reviewing whether the U.S. was doing enough. Above, some of the 15,000 waiting for papers in Greece.
