Your Wednesday Evening Briefing

Good evening. Here's the start of tonight's briefing. Go to the full briefing. 
1. Apple, the world's most valuable brand, unveiled new models of big sellers at its signature fall event. The stars included a bigger-screen iPad, a TV that obeys voice commands, and the 6S and 6S Plus iPhones, with startlingly sharp cameras and automatic GIF-makers, to run on the coming iOS 9.
2. Debate over the Iran nuclear deal heated up in the U.S., as Hillary Rodham Clinton argued for it and some of her Republican opponents, including Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, rallied opposition. In Iran, the supreme leader promised Israel continued hostility, saying "the spirit of fighting, heroism and jihad will keep you worried every moment," and predicting "there will be no Zionist regime in 25 years."
3. Stephen Colbert's first "Late Show" got mostly applause. Our new television reviewer, James Poniewozik (pah-nuh-WAH-zik), found some interviews to be bland but said the surreal sketches showed that Mr. Colbert could be "as sharp and acerbic about the conventions of late night as he had been about cable news punditry."
