Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who has been denying marriage licenses to gay couples, was ordered to jail for contempt of court in a case that has rallied Christians who reject same-sex marriage. One said, "She has got to stand for what she believes, and I have to stand for what I believe, and I'm behind her 100 percent." 2. Europe's migration crisis played into the anti-immigration sentiment that has empowered right-wing parties in recent years. The prime minister of Hungary, which has been blocking thousands of migrants at train stations, said, "I think we have a right to decide that we do not want a large number of Muslim people in our country." 3. A photo of a 3-year-old Syrian boy who drowned in the Mediterranean has shocked Europe and driven home the refugees' desperation. The father said he had lost his wife and 5-year-old son as well when their boat capsized en route to Greece. Relatives in Canada had been unable to arrange their immigration.
